The food has has been exceptional especially following their major renovations several years ago. The lines when they open at 11 can look intimidating, but move very quickly to get everyone in abs back out fighting the war. Once inside most people avoid the made to order sandwich line. I don't know why. They pile on the ingredients high and you can even toast it at the end. It's the quickest way to get some quality and delicious navy grub in my opinion. Plenty of seating means you don't have to sit with your friendenemy and TV around the dining area allow you to eat your meal while watching your favorite San Diego weather girl. Good job North Island Galley.

Over all one of the better galleys out of the 5 I've been through in the navy. Both east and west coast. I would say the quick sandwich bar is great,little stingy on the meat portions though but they make up for it in the toppings in vegetables however if your a guy like me the meat is the best part of the sandwich. As far as the regular entrée line no complaints most the food is delicious and pretty good combo's with the sides typically complimenting the main course. Service is typical but not the worst cs's and civilians I've delt with from a galley. The speed-line is usually where its at. pizza/wings Friday is the best as well as other food days like taco Tuesday ribs Wensday and meat ball sub Thursdays. Salad bar is phenomenal however there is a inconsistency with toppings and dressings gotta hope they have your favorites that day. Fruits are typically good not rotten or in poor condition. The smoothie selection and production is bomb.Breakfast omelets are solid. Drinks are plenty in choices however it seems none of the ice machines ever work i try everyday big bummer. Dessert bar are okay typically good pie, i will say though i am pissed they got rid of the peanut butter cookies or it seems cookies in general that was my favorite and on of the daily things i looked forward too. Seating and overall dining i great good tables good plates/silverware and healthy amount of tv's.Hours of operation are decent with morning times ending a little to early 30 more minutes to and hour would be splendid.
